define product & packaging design:

It's meant to protect the product, sell and inform the client about the content of the product.

It helps to recognize the company and creates it's image.

It makes the information clear, communication is more important than just the look. It also makes the information readable and available to people.

It's personal selling, advertising, promotion to the public.
